Gadgets. They're everywhere.
I fully expect that by the time my kids are in high school that they won't ever touch an actual piece of paper. With the number of smartphones, cellphones, MP3 players, computers, cameras and devices in general out there already, the future of technology is here and it's here to stay.
From texting to talking to working to shopping, the demand for products has brought along with it the need for more power and more convenient ways to stay charged up and ready. But who wants to deal with the hassle of cords and cables and making sure you have the right one for each particular gadget at the precise time that you need it? Not to mention having to barter with family members over who gets to use the outlet?
Well, that's no longer going to be a problem. Energizer, a leader in innovative power solutions that make consumers' lives easier, has introduced a new wireless charging station, the Energizer Inductive Charger.
Have you heard of Qi (pronounced "chee"), yet? If not, you will. It's the new universal standard for inductive charging - a "common language" for chargers and devices to be able to talk to one another.
Traditionally inductive charging occurred when a device that was designed to send power touched with a device that was designed to receive it and energy was transferred. Makes sense, right? However, the catch was that those two devices were made specifically for one another and attempting to mix-and-match wasn't an option... leading to you having to have one charger for your phone, one for your iPod, one for your camera... you get the picture.
So what does Qi have to do with it? Well, everything. Qi is about to revolutionize the way that our gadgets are charged because it allows every device to be a part of one universal language. In upcoming years, every phone, MP3, Blackberry and other device that uses up to 5 watts of power will be Qi-enabled and, therefore, will only need a Qi charging pad to power up.
No more cords, no more special sleeves, nothing. You'll walk into your neighborhood coffee shop and set your iPhone down on the small pad at your table and instantly have power. You'll be on a cross-country flight and lower the tray table on your airplane and be able to charge up your camera by touching it to the Qi charger that is built right in. Amazing, isn't it?
So, what do you get the tech-loving person in your life that already has everything? Only the next hot item, the Energizer Inductive Charger, one of the first Qi products out on the market. Being released very soon (just in time for the holidays, of course) the Energizer Inductive Charger will be introduced with accessories to enable Qi-compatibility with the most popular smartphones: the iPhone 3GS/3G and the Blackberry Curve 8900.
All that you have to do to use the Energizer Inductive Charger will be to slip the appropriate sleeve onto your smartphone (or plug it in to the provided USB port) and set it down on one of the two designated areas and you're ready to go.
In the future, as Qi is built right in to pretty much every gadget from every manufacturer, it won't be necessary to add on a sleeve, change a door or plug anything in at all. The Energizer Inductive Charger will work with whatever device you own!
Normally I'm not up on the latest technology, but even I have to admit that Qi and the Energizer Inductive Charger have piqued my interest. With the possibility of consumers being able to charge any device on a single charging station without having to add or do anything to it - well, that's just cool.
Are you ready to be on the forefront of technology? The Energizer Inductive Charger will be available online and in stores soon at a suggested retail price of $89 (the removable accessories for the iPhone 3GS/3G and the Blackberry Curve 8900 will be sold separately for $34.99 each). And, one person will be on their way to owning a piece of the future as well, because...

This is quite wild and innovative, I can't believe that any product that is on board and has a Qi on it can just be placed on this device, and it will charge.....this would save so much time and electricity

With no magnets to line up or secret spot to find, you don't have to be precise about how or where you set your phone down on the two large areas on the charging station.

I learned that inductive chargers have the advantage of no exposed metal, and therefore don’t need direct metal on metal contact like conductive chargers do.
plur268 at yahoo dot com
I think this innovative technology is great. Every new device has a cord to go along with it. It gets difficult to keep track of them all. Having this would eliminate the need for all those cords.
I learned that I'll still need to plug my current devices into USB to charge them - I don't have a blackberry nor an iPhone. The concept looks really cool, though. If more devices support this standard in the future, I can see a lot of potential.

I learned that inductive charging uses electromagnetic fields to transfer energy from a charging pad to a compatible special receiver on or in a device. The power transfer happens when the charging pad is connected
