The way that I look at food is just so different than it was nearly two months ago and the surprise of that is what shocks me the most. I wouldn't say that I have a willpower of steel now (and please, keep the pans of brownies away), but when I see the full pot of pasta I don't have the urge to pile my plate up high with it. Or when my kids have leftover peanut butter and jelly sandwich smashed on their plate at the end of lunch, I can just throw it away.
The concept is pretty amazing, I know.
As well as seeing the results on the scale, I am really starting to feel smaller. I'm not tiny by any means, but I just feel like there's a little bit less of me when I look in the mirror. Plus, this weekend we went to visit my in-laws and my husband and I had the chance to have an evening out without the kids so what better thing to do than a little shopping?
I was looking at a shirt hanging on the sale rack that was only available in one size... a size that I was pretty sure wasn't going to fit me. But, as I was trying on a few other items, I tossed it over my arm and brought it back to the fitting room as well. After putting it on and looking in the mirror I first thought what a strange shirt it was (it had these odd ruffle-like sleeves) but I was also floored that IT FIT.
I didn't buy the shirt, but I still left the fitting room with a big smile on my face.
At a different store I couldn't pass up a steal on a pair of jeans that were available in the shorter length that I needed but my husband commented later, "Don't you have a pile of jeans at home?" and it made me stop and think. I do. I have a pile of jeans that I just can't bear to get rid of either because of how much a pair cost or because of how stylish they were... even though they all don't fit me. That pile inspired this month's video...
No, I haven't tried on the pile yet. Right now they're all sitting there, still taunting me (some even still have tags on them). Even though I have lost weight I have to build up the confidence to try them on, not to mention that I know that I'm not too far from the weight I was in high school so they'll have to fit then, right? And, with the help of Nutrisystem and another two months on the program, I know that I'm going to get there... and then pass that number right by.
It's going to happen.
I'm even more sure of it from having stepped on the scale this morning and seeing...
Week 1: -3.0 lbs
Week 2: -3.0 lbs
Week 3: -1.0 lbs
Week 4: -1.4 lbs
Week 5: -1.0 lbs
Week 6: -0.8 lbs
Week 7: -0.8 lbs
Week 8: -1.4 lbs
Total loss: 12.4 lbs
Week 2: -3.0 lbs
Week 3: -1.0 lbs
Week 4: -1.4 lbs
Week 5: -1.0 lbs
Week 6: -0.8 lbs
Week 7: -0.8 lbs
Week 8: -1.4 lbs
Total loss: 12.4 lbs
Woot! I got on and off the scale quite a few times to make sure that it was right because it's been a few weeks since I've lost more than one pound, but it kept telling me the same number! And that's even with my husband and I going out to eat - although I kept portion sizes in mind when we were there and only ate half of my meal and a tiny piece of the bread that they brought to the table. Nutrisystem has taught me well!
