We're back!
It took a long day of flights being rescheduled and walking to one end of large airports only to find that the gate had been moved to the other end, but Big Sister E and I made it home safe and sound from our vacation.
Aside from the little cold that she picked up somewhere, it was a wonderful trip.
I have to admit that I was more than a little worried about getting on the scale to see what might have happened with being away from home for a week, not to mention eating things that haven't been on my menu for quite some time.
And I'm not necessarily just talking about the meals, as those weren't nearly as hard to keep up with as I might have thought. My mom eats healthy and makes restaurant-worthy salads, so aside from eating out a little (in which I made sure to take home half of my entree), it didn't feel too difficult to try to stay on track with Nutrisystem while being away.
No, for me it was the days leading up to the trip, returning from the trip, and the traveling days themselves. You could say that I'm not a fan of flying, so it doesn't take a psychologist to see that I soothe those worries by snacking. Unfortunately, I had packed Big Sister E a big bag of various things to eat on the planes... and I think I ended up eating as much out of it as she did.
And, even more unfortunately, my mind managed to convince the rest of me that since I had already blown things that I might as well just eat some more... which meant that even after returning home I still found myself snacking.
In the past I would have just been done. Another failed diet, why even bother? But this time I took a long, hard look at that 17 pounds that I've worked so hard to lose and I'm already back on the right path. Cut it out, Brain! I'm not throwing in the towel that easily!
I told myself that no matter what the scale said this morning, it would be okay. If I gained a little, it wasn't the end of the world and I would continue receiving just as much love and support and encouragement from the Nutrisystem Nation as ever before. So, with a deep breath (and crossed fingers), I found...
Complete and utter shock is probably a good way to describe how I felt when I saw that the scale hadn't gone up. Even though .6 is a pretty small loss, it's NOT A GAIN! The fact that I went away on vacation and came back to have not gained anything is a huge success in my book!
Plus, it not only inches me closer to the 20 pound mark, but it puts me only .6 away from moving down into the next set of digits... something that I haven't seen in as long as I can remember.
