PMD Personal Microderm System {Review}

Am I the only one who wishes I could try pretty much every service available at spas and salons? Everything from massages and facials to having my teeth whitened to those strange-sounding seaweed wraps... I want to walk in and say "I'll take one of everything, please," and be prepared to come out relaxed and beautified.

But then there's the small aspect called money (and the fact that, honestly, some of the things scare me a little bit with how painful they might be). Isn't there a way to not spend a fortune while still getting spa-quality results at home?

My skin now thinks so thanks to PMD's Personal Microderm and SkinCareRx.com.

As seen on The Doctors, this home microdermabrasion tool is designed to help with a multitude of issues with the skin, from aging and wrinkles to lessening the appearance of freckles and scars. Whether you want to focus on smoothing your skin's texture, repairing sun damage, removing buildup, or just maintaining a healthy, even skin tone, the Personal Microderm System is the answer.

Microdermabrasion has been one of those spa services that has always piqued my interest, as the idea of simply exfoliating away my skin's imperfections sounded like something that I would like to try. So, when the Personal Microderm arrived, I was looking forward to what it could do and just how easy it would be to use.

Pulling out the pieces inside, I was already feeling like this was something I was going to be able to handle just by how simple and straightforward it all looked.

As well as the device itself, the system includes six exfoliating discs (in two sizes and two levels of "rough"), the larger and smaller caps, an instructional DVD, and some small samples of M2 Skin Recovery Moisturizer and M2 Skin Refinish 20% Serum.

The Personal Microderm fits right in your hand and is extremely easy to assemble. All you have to do is make sure that the correct exfoliating disc is attached (depending on the sensitivity of your skin and the size area you are going to be doing), screw on the coordinating cap, and insert and lock the power cord into the bottom.

Considering that there were multiple warnings to be sure to watch the instructional DVD, I took the eight minutes to do so and found that afterward I did feel more informed and confident that I wouldn't be harming my face or misusing this system.

Making sure my skin was clean and dry, I proceeded to imitate what I had seen in the video and use my fingers to stretch my skin to create a smooth surface on my cheek. When I turned on the power switch, the whirring noise began and I could see the disc spinning.

I knew to not leave the tool in one place on my skin, but yet I also needed to not move it too quickly so that it would be able to do its job. The sucking sensation surprised me at first, as the system's vacuum pulls the dead skin cells into the filter in the cap while you proceed. But did it hurt? Not at all.

I was fairly cautious throughout all of the initial use, considering I was still a little worried that I would end up with bright blotchy spots, but when I had finished with my face it just looked... smooth. Nothing major, but the effects were slightly noticeable as well as the soft feel. As I've continued using the Personal Microderm System, it has just gotten better!

Overall, I'm impressed with the ability to use a home microdermabrasion system and receive such great results. Although I can't compare it to a professional treatment, as I have never had one, my skin definitely feels smoother and I hope to see even more of my fine lines and spots disappear as I continue using it in the upcoming months.

Retailing on SkinCareRx.com for $179.00, PMD's Personal Microderm is easy to use, easy to clean, and seems to do a great job effectively exfoliating dead skin cells in order to reveal softer, smoother skin underneath. The price tag is on the higher end (you also have to take into account the cost of replacing the discs) - unless you compare it to the hundreds of dollars that would be spent at the spa or dermatologist receiving the same treatment.

Whether you are new to microdermabrasion or not, the Personal Microderm System can provide an effective way to keep your skin looking young and fresh right at home. I'm looking forward to having it continue as a part of my routine for now and well into the future!

(Other than the Personal Microderm System that I received from SkinCareRx.com to facilitate my review, I was not provided with anything or enticed to do this review in any way. This review is solely my opinion of this product and its benefits.)
