Even though Halloween hasn't quite arrived this year (although I'm sure it will be upon us before I know it), that doesn't mean that we are lacking in opportunities for wearing costumes around here. Considering how much fun my girls have in October, it's not a surprise that they enjoy finding times to dress up the rest of the year as well.
Recently, however, we discovered a way to make costumes even more fun by combining the joy of dress up and pretend with the love that my kids have for books with BuyCostumes.com and many of their unique Storybook Costumes.
With over 15,000 costumes, accessories, props and party supplies (including 200+ exclusive items you can't find anywhere else), BuyCostumes.com has a huge range of genres and categories for every taste and occasion. Whether you are looking for super scary or extra cute, their selection can't be beat.
When we heard that Buy Costumes was running a Summer Storybook Costume Campaign, we were thrilled to participate! Big Sister E and Little Sister B have adored books since infancy, so the hardest part was deciding which character they would most like to impersonate.
When we came across The World of Eric Carle Caterpillar Toddler/Child Costume, there was no doubt that it was the perfect choice.
Are there kids that don't know and love The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle? It's a classic! Having used the size chart right on Buy Costumes, I was happy to find that the 4-6X should fit Big Sister E as well as Little Sister B (with a little room to spare). When it arrived (stored in its own convenient hanging bag), we couldn't wait to see how it looked!
This adorable costume includes a cute green caterpillar tunic that features little brown legs on the sides, and a bright red headpiece with contrasting purple antennas. Being able to slip this costume right on over my kids' clothes made it extremely fast and easy, whether they had my help or not.
They simply put the tunic on like a shirt and pulled the head on like a hat and, although I might be biased, I'm pretty sure they were instantly transformed into the cutest caterpillars around...
Love it! There is even a fun multi-colored fringe down the back to complete the look!
This will be great for Halloween with a pair of black pants and black shirt during the day and even a light jacket underneath for trick-or-treating, as the girls can move and walk around without problem. The Velcro closure on the back of both of the body and the head mean that there aren't any bothersome snaps or clasps and I appreciate that it makes each piece comfortable as well as adjustable for the best fit.
We've had a great time with this Hungry Caterpillar Costume already (sometimes I'll find Big Sister E just sitting on the couch wearing it!) and I have no doubt that this caterpillar is going to be a major player in our house for quite some time. Retailing for $49.99, I look forward to getting years of use out of this both for special occasions or just play time!
Halloween is barely over two months away and dress-up time is all year round, so no matter what animal, superhero, storybook character, television star (and much more) that your child longs to be, chances are that BuyCostumes.com will have a great outfit for you. And really, the pictures alone make picking out one of these cute costumes worth it. Who could turn down this much fun?

(Other than the Caterpillar costume that I was sent from BuyCostumes.com in order to facilitate my review, I was not provided with anything or enticed to do this review in any way. This review is solely my opinion of this website and their adorable costume.)

That is so cute!
Toooo cute! We had the Madeline costume last year :)
Um, is she just the most adorable thing ever? The one picture of her with the huge smile, she looks just like you!
How adorable! I don't know if it is the costume or the kid in it, but together, that is the cutest little "calapitter" I have ever seen! :-) (That's how Rylie says it.)
Love it! Baybah's first BDay party was TVHC!! Love Eric Carle!
What an adorable costume (and child!). I will definitely keep them in mind - thanks!
