The Holidays Are Coming! The Swiss Colony Snowman Truffles {Review & Giveaway}

I am one of those people that can never seem to keep track of the date. At some point the days all started blending together and going by so quickly that I found myself glancing at the calendar thinking Hold the phone. It's August?!

So when it comes to the holidays, I have no doubt that they will manage to sneak up on me before I know it and soon it'll be time to pull out the decorations and prepare the eggnog once again.

This year, however, I won't be struggling with figuring out what to give as great gifts or what to have ready for when guests arrive thanks to the delicious options found at The Swiss Colony.

After having been introduced to this family-owned company with their yummy Easter candy, I had no doubt that The Swiss Colony would be experts at celebrating the holiday season. With everything from traditional baskets to meats and cheeses to decadent desserts, the hardest part is deciding which tasty treat to to send to friends or family at home or across the country.

And with the arrival of The Swiss Colony holiday catalog on August 17th, my taste buds were thrilled to be able to see what creative and delectable items they had come up with for 2011.

I've never tried petits fours before, but the 24 Dobosh Petits Fours (retail price $16.95) sure make me want to remedy that! Who knew there were so many layers of yumminess inside each one?

Or, for something that I have no doubt that the whole family would be guaranteed to enjoy (and would most likely disappear within moments), the Snowman Cake (retail price $39.95) combines cuteness with scrumptious flavor. What more could you need?

Although those both were making my mouth water, when The Swiss Colony's Snowflake Truffles arrived, I knew that they would be just the thing to satisfy the sweet tooth in us all.

Oh, the cuteness.

Created out of two truffles that have rich chocolate ganache centers with creamy Swiss creme shells, these snowmen can't help but make you grin. Each one is hand-decorated with Swiss creme details that almost make you not want to take a bite.

Almost.

As suspected, these Snowman Truffles have been a huge hit. The chocolate is smooth and delicious and they melt in your mouth just enough that the flavor is rich without being overpowering. Yum!

Retailing for $24.95 for 12 of the 1 oz snowmen (although as each one is made out of two truffles, it really is like getting 24), giving a box of these treats would be a very sweet way to celebrate the holidays for family, friends, teachers, and more.

With everything from cute to practical, the selection at The Swiss Colony is sure to make any lucky recipient's mouth water from the moment they open the box. Even though there is still time to plan now, the holidays will be here before we know it!
