Since having children, I've learned a thing or two that I otherwise never would have truly understood.
One, kids find it perfectly normal to wear pajamas, a Batman costume, a tutu or a combination of all three in public... and moms? We know that it's often not a battle worth fighting (not to mention that other parents will empathize anyway). Two, taking a shower without anyone whining, crying or otherwise needing to talk to you the whole time is a luxurious experience.
And three, life with children can go from calm and collected to quick, hurry, run out the door, we've got to go, we're late in a matter of seconds. There's just something about kids that require spontaneity, flexibility, patience and convenience, whether you're staying around the neighborhood, driving across town, or jetting across the country.
One company that knows and understands that (and has the incredibly innovative products to help) is QuickSmart, an Australian brand that is new to the U.S. and, as far as I'm concerned, is going to be a big hit here.
Developed with the mobile on-the-go parent in mind, QuickSmart's products feature design and functionality to help parents move easily from one moment to another without getting bogged down. Everything from their Easy Fold High Chair to their 3-in-1 Play Yard to their Backpack Stroller (yes, that's right, a stroller that fits into a backpack) allows parents to focus on all of the experiences of childhood without ever thinking about bulk or hassle.
But as well as gear that adults will appreciate (seriously, the stroller fits into a backpack. That can then be carried onto an airplane. Where has this been all these years?), QuickSmart hasn't forgotten about what kids want as well. By combining portability and convenience with fun and style, their toddler ride-on toys are irresistibly cute and extremely durable. What child wouldn't want to immediately go for a ride on the Scuttle Bug or Scramble Bug?
Whether enjoying the three wheels of the Scuttle Bug or the four legs of the Scramble Bug, these lightweight, indoor/outdoor, portable toddler ride-on toys are designed with the child as well as the adult in mind.
Made for ages 1-3, how can kids resist the bright colors, friendly characters and all-around fun of being able to coast along on a bug? At the same time, both ride-ons easily fold up flat in seconds and be reopened just as as quickly, meaning they won't take up a lot of room when they are stored or that they can be brought along without problem to the park or Grandma's house.
Knowing that Little Sister B would be thrilled to hop on her own bug, when the Scramble Bug in the fun Orange/Charcoal colors arrived, we were ready to go for a ride.
Sitting down to open the large box, I had my screwdriver out and was prepared to start following the assembly instructions.
Instead, I found:
Well, huh. I can't remember the last time I didn't have to put together a larger toy - particularly one that is ridden - and finding that we were immediately ready to go made both Little Sister B and I smile. When it comes to kids and wanting to try out a new toy, I can't think of anything more convenient than having no assembly required!
Reaching underneath, I simply twisted and pulled out the rear legs so that they snapped into place and then unlocked the front to flip up the remaining two legs and the head. Considering all of the mechanisms are designed to be pinch-free, I'm pretty sure that Little Sister B could have nearly done it herself!
With four non-scratch castor wheels that can move 360° for free-flowing movement, Little Sister B got down to business scooting around our house. Finding that the process was easier on the hardwood instead of the carpet, she ended up zipping around our kitchen for a while (the wheels don't leave any marks!), laughing the entire time.
However, as soon as we had the chance, we had to bring the Scramble Bug outside (it's so lightweight that Little Sister B didn't have a problem picking it up herself) to see just how much fun it would be to glide along the sidewalk.
The answer? A whole lot of fun!
The simplicity of the Scramble Bug is a big part of what makes it so charming. There aren't any pedals, there aren't any flashing lights or beeping noises, it is merely an adorable, high quality ride-on that helps children learn how to push and steer. The four wheels and solid construction mean that it is extremely stable, so little legs can get it moving while also staying perfectly safe.
And when those legs are tired? It takes less than 20 seconds to turn the Scramble Bug over, locate and release the locking mechanism, fold down the front...
...and pull out, twist and flatten both of the back legs into the main body to be left with a compact package that can easily be carried, stored, and more.
Retailing for $49.99 for the Scramble Bug (currently available in the Orange Bull Ant color combination that we received or a Yellow Grasshopper yellow and green style) and $39.99 for the three-wheeled Scuttle Bug (available in Red Beetle or Yellow Bumble Bee), these toddler ride-ons might be small and compact, but they deliver a large amount of fun!
For more information about all of QuickSmart's beautifully designed products (I have a feeling that we'll be seeing much more of them in the future!), visit their website and be sure to check them out up close and in video and, to make a purchase, head over to Amazon. You'll be amazed at the innovation, value and convenience! And, thanks to their generosity, one person will be able to see just how much fun it is to ride on a bug as well, because...
