Midnight Velvet Fashions, Shoes, Accessories and More {Review}

Heading into the New Year, organization is often found near the top of quite a few most-wanted lists. From labeling files to investing in storage bins, it's time to embrace the out with the old, in with the new mentality in multiple aspects of our lives.

One important one? Our closets.

Instead of pushing past the clothes, shoes and jewelry that are outdated, don't fit or simply don't encompass the appearance that you want to portray to the world, it is time to clear the space for pieces that will have us looking glamorous, well put-together and highly fashionable thanks to Midnight Velvet.

Instead of the same styles you're going to find elsewhere, Midnight Velvet has a dedicated team of artists, designers and fashion merchants that is constantly traveling to the most exotic destinations in the world to find original, unique products to keep their selection fresh and new.

After being impressed with the great variety of colors, patterns and styles on their website, I was looking forward to seeing the Silver Boyfriend Jacket, Pump, Big Button and Cascade Sweater in person to check them out for myself.

Made from a metallic fabric, the Silver Boyfriend Jacket (which retails for $69.95 for Misses sizes and $79.95 for Plus sizes) has just enough shimmer to give it a unique, stylish look, but not so much that you have to worry about it being too reflective.

Right away I loved the princess seaming along the back to give it a tailored, fitted look, while the ¾-length sleeves work perfectly with the light feel of the polyester/nylon material.

Although I was initially worried about the shoulder padding in this jacket, as soon as I tried it on and realized that it simply gave it a little more structure and shape, my concerned were erased.

Whether dressed up for an evening out, with business attire for a day of work, or to give a stylish, classy look to a white t-shirt and jeans, the Silver Boyfriend Jacket from Midnight Velvet is a fun twist on a go-to addition to any woman's wardrobe... plus, with it being machine washable, there's no extra work needed to continue to have this hanging in your closet and ready to go.

In a similar add-a-fashionable-pop-to-your-life sort of way, the Pump, Big Button (retailing for $79.95) add a magenta flair without being too flashy or bright.

Although they appear purple in my photos and on the Midnight Velvet website, they are more of a reddish, magenta color.

With a 2½" heel and a slight platform lift in the front, these pumps definitely give me some extra lift while still being surprisingly comfortable. I love the added detailing that Midnight Velvet included, as everything from the clean stitching to the large button to the curved band makes these eye-catching and cute.

I especially appreciate that while the button adds to the appearance, that it actually lifts off from its Velco-closure easily. No fumbling and bending to get these heels on and off!

Whether worn with a dress, skirt or pair of slacks, the Pump, Big Button haven't hurt my feet at all and have instead left me trying to come up with more places and events in my life that warrant a great pair of magenta faux suede pumps!

But while heels might not currently be a part of my everyday apparel, Midnight Velvet's Cascade Sweater (retailing for $79.95 for Misses sizes and $89.95 for Plus sizes) is a light, comfortable, chic way to add a layer to an outfit that is more than simply another plain black sweater.

Stopping at a traditional length in the back, the front of the Cascade Sweater come to a longer, lower point on either side. Combined with the black and white stripes, the result makes me feel like it is both modern and classic at the same time.

Although the viscose fabric is to be hand washed, I don't think that will stop this sweater from being pulled out time and time again. It is light, comfortable, flowing and has a way of completing a look, whether dressy, professional or casual. Who doesn't want that?
