When there are days that begin by being jolted out of sleep by my 3-year-old calling from the bathroom, continue with packing lunches, dropping off, picking up, dropping off again, picking up again, cooking, cleaning up, running errands, taking calls, and making it to appointments (hopefully) on time, the idea of fitting in a facial or a trip to the dermatologist is almost laughable.
Fortunately, I was able to set aside our store-bought cleansers and cleaners and see if I would be able to achieve a clear complexion right in my own home thanks to the blue light therapy from Tria and the Tria Skin Perfecting Blue Light.
Tria Skin Perfecting Blue Light is a revolutionary, non UV-light, FDA-cleared, hand-held device that delivers the same gentle, therapeutic power of blue light acne treatment used by dermatologists to treat breakouts deep within the skin. While I had heard of laser treatment for acne before, the idea that Tria could eliminate bacteria at the source, deep within the skin, without harshness or irritation right at home sure sounded nice to me.
As I previously mentioned, in clinical studies with this device consumers saw 70% acne reduction in just two weeks, 93% noticed a smoother complexion in four weeks and 100% said skin looked healthier and more radiant in four weeks. What did I have to lose?
Over the past six weeks, I have found that this device was, in fact, just as easy to use as it claimed. Simply spend five minutes a day (I typically added this to my bedtime routine, but did intersperse it in the morning and afternoon a few times as well) running the blue light along your problem areas and let it work its magic.
As you lightly press the top of the Tria Blue Light on your face, the pressure activates the light and therefore assures that you won't accidentally leave it running or shine it into your eyes when you put it down. Instead, you've got a way to simulate a dermatologist treatment right in the comfort of your own home whenever it fits your schedule!
Along with the ease of use, I appreciated that using this treatment doesn't add any chemicals to my skin and that the light didn't irritate any of the areas that I tried it on. No redness, no burning sensation, simply blue light and the feeling as though I was doing something pampering for myself!
As for my results? I have to admit that while I have seen a slight improvement in my skin, I don't believe that there has been a drastic change. Plus, the treatment area that can be covered is quite small (the light itself is approximately 1¼" x ⅓"), so the Tria Blue Light is an effective way to treat specific problem areas — for instance just your chin — but would take quite a bit of time and multiple replacement cartridges ($40 each) if you needed to cover your entire face.
Overall I have been happy to have tried out this innovative treatment, as any chance I have to ride my face of acne-causing bacteria is one that I want to try. While I don't believe this device can deliver miracles, I do think that it has the possibility of providing clearer, healthy skin for people that are willing to devote the time each day to focusing on individual imperfections.

I wrote this review while participating in a campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Tria and received a Tria Skin Perfecting Blue Light product sample to facilitate my review.

I'm not the right person for this simply because I'm lazy and I would never dedicate that much time on a consistent basis to it. But bravo to people that can!
this seems like a unique product but it's quite pricey and i'd want more improvement for the price!
