Whether or not we've had an unfortunate personal experience or just know family, friends or coworkers who have, it's a real threat in this digital age. It just seems to be an all too common occurrence for hackers to obtain your credit card information online, and suddenly you find out that you're purchasing electronics, clothing and more in states that you've never visited.
While there are steps that we can follow to decrease the likelihood of being a victim (never giving out your social security number, shredding documents that include personal information, keeping your computer's security up to date, etc), it is also possible to take things one step further and truly protect yourself with identity theft prevention services from LifeLock.
Even if you take great care to protect your personal information, it is still out there (at work, school, when shopping, etc), so it isn't that big of a surprise to hear that identity theft is the number one consumer complaint. Fortunately, once you enroll in LifeLock identity theft protection, their proactive suite of member services immediately begins monitoring for threats against your identity.
By adding an additional layer of protection against identity theft and credit fraud, LifeLock does more than simply alerting you whenever they detect your personal information being used. In fact, if you become a victim of identity theft while you are a LifeLock member, they will spend up to $1 million to hire experts, lawyers, investigators, consultants and whoever else it takes to help your recovery.
I don't know about you, but it's a load off of my mind to know that there are knowledgeable folks out there not only doing work to keep my identity safe, but they will also go through the headache and hassle to fix any problems that might occur!
LifeLock offers three levels of protection — LifeLock, LifeLock Ultimate and LifeLock Credit Score Manager — and makes it easy to compare and choose which plan is right for you.
For me, the LifeLock plan includes all of the features necessary so that I can rest assured that it is safeguarding my personal information from the risk of misuse:
- Alerts of potential threats–both credit and noncredit related
- Online access to a personalized dashboard showing current threats
- Relentless monitoring for exposure of your personal information
- Member services with local phone support—24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year
- Stolen or lost wallet remediation services to help cancel and replace credit and debit cards
- Comprehensive recovery services if you become a victim of identity theft on our watch.
Being able to contact support at any time of day is convenient for my busy schedule and staying up to date with email notifications and access to my personalized dashboard is exactly the support that works for me.
Ideal for people looking to safeguard their personal information from the risk of misuse, LifeLock identity theft protection is a proactive defense system that monitors your identity and alerts you of potential dangers. If you're ready to take the important step in keeping your identity safe and secure, these are the experts (and they really are relentless!) that will do just that.
Find out much more about LifeLock, their plans, and what they can do for you by visiting them at LifeLock.com and connecting with them on Facebook and Twitter. And, thanks to their generosity, one person will be able to sleep soundly at night knowing that their identity is theirs and theirs alone, because...

I know someone who's ss number was being used to forge checks
I had someone make over $500 in charges to BestBuy, B&N, and a few other places, until they ran out the limit for the day. Since it was my bank card, they froze all my money for over a week.
A few months ago, I was contacted by my credit card (that I use for only gasoline purchases) asking if I was using my card for Match.com. No, since I am happily married... Plus, whoever got my card number also used it at another gas station, and used my email address (not sure how they got that...) for Match.com membership. Of course, it didn't go through.

Just last year I had my debit card compromised. My bank caught the "strange" charges and notified me. I cancelled the card, filed a claim thru the bank, and the $ was restored to my account. Scary stuff!
our friends had to file for bankruptcy after her identity was stolen
We had someone charge something on our account and fortunately we spotted it right away. The bank cancelled the charge.
My sweet friend had her identity stolen. It cost her a lot of money and time to get it all fixed.

I got an email from my bank a few months ago informing me that someone had tried several times to access my account online.
A friend was hit hard, and had to take time off of work to deal with all the damage done to her financial reputation.
We were fortunate -- the bank caught a large charge that was put on our credit card and fixed it right away.
I was told in the past that someone was using my social security number and that I had to find out what was going on.

I had a credit card from my mom's account. I never used it except if she asked me too. She called me to tell me that the bill came in and how much I owed. I told her I didn't. She called and stopped the card.
I know someone who had their ss# stolen and people opened multiple accts all in one day. It was amazing how quickly they ruined their credit.
My friend had her ebay identity stolen and someone listed and sold a bunch of non-existant ATV's and other items on her account.
I've had unauthorized charges on my bank account before and so has my mom. We had to file reports with the bank and got our money back, but it was still scary.

My cousin's debit card number was stolen -- she lost all of her cash in checking and savings. It took her a really long time to get it straightened out!
I had my ebay account stolen and recently my twitter was high jacked which scares me.
I've never had an issue with Identity Theft, nor have I known anyone who has, but I had LifeLock once and I'd love to again!
I had my pocketbook stollen with my check book & all ID. What a mess.
this would be good
I'd feel safer.
Luckily I haven't had to deal with this but we had a local gas station attendant stealing people's credit card numbers. That is scary that anybody you hand that card to can rip you off. Thanks for a great giveaway!

Luckily I have not nor do I know anyone who has.
Neither I nor anyone close to me have dealt with identity theft.
I've had fraudulent charges on my credit cards in the past. This looks like an interesting service.
My Grandpa had someone using his identity for a few year, it was such a huge hassel for him.
I had someone a few years ago use my credit card for fraudulent charges. My parents have had identity theft issues in the past too. It's not a good feeling nor a fun situation.

my mom has had her bank account compromised by her credit card company being hacked.
I was a victim of identity theft a few years ago. I was fortunate in that my bank called me and I the money they stole by charging my credit card was returned to me, but it was a HUGE pain to get it all squared away, and I still have to watch my credit score closely. Totally sucked!
Thanks!

My SIL left her wallet on the top of her car at the gas station and drove off one day, well someone found her wallet and was caught using her cards, fortunately the guy was caught and everything was settled but not without a lot of work on my SIL part.
My checks were stolen before.
A co-worker of mine had her purse stolen. I don't know if anyone tried stealing her identity though because the next day I told her to sign up for Lifelock....and she did. So she wasn't nearly as worried anymore.
Wish I had had this when my purse was stolen and my card was used. No ID theft and my card company covered the loss but such a scare. It's sad that companies that safeguard our identities are necessary, right? Thanks for the opportunity to win this service.
Good way for peace of mind as far as credit finances are concerned
My cousin had her identity stolen by a family member and until the day she died she was still dealing with issues from that ordeal
I don't know anyone who has had their identity stolen, but my credit card/debit card information has been stolen before and was a big mess to clean up and have to wait to get MY money back!
I had my credit card used on a gambling site a few years ago. They made 2 $300 cash advances. The Casino was able to find the person that used the number. I canceled the card and haven't had any problems since.

I would love to have this to keep myself protested from ID theft.
Recently a lot of my friends were victimized when they used their debit cards at a popular pizza chain. Seems the pizza place's credit machine was not that secure. Very scary.
