SKIL Tools Partners with Susan G. Komen to Fight Breast Cancer with the Pink iXO Palm-Sized Screwdriver Kit {Review & Giveaway}

SKIL logo
The arrival of October means different things for different people.

For some, it signifies that fall is truly here as the leaves change color and begin to drop and cover the lawn. For others, especially kids, this month is all about Halloween and costumes and trick-or-treating.

However, for so many others, October is much more meaningful with the arrival of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Having touched so many lives, a month dedicated to the breast cancer survivors, patients, family members, and supporters is something that can make us all proud.

Which is why I love it when one of the most recognized and powerful brands in the power tool industry takes part in the support as well. Which is exactly what SKIL Tools has done by partnering with Susan G. Komen for the Cure to sell the Pink SKIL iXO Palm-Sized Screwdriver Kit.

SKIL pink

That's right, in an effort to fight against breast cancer, SKIL has turned its #1 selling power tool, the iXO Palm-Sized Screwdriver, pink during its "Tools for the Cure" campaign. Ten percent of the unit price of every pink iXO sold between August 1, 2012 and December 31, 2012 will benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure, providing a minimum donation of $100,000 to the organization!

Pretty awesome, right?

Coming complete with a 4V max palm-sized cordless screwdriver, right angle attachment for hard-to-reach places, five piece bit set, charger and pink carrying bag, the pink iXO includes all of the great features of the original iXO Cordless Screwdriver, but with the benefit of helping to support a great cause.

When it arrived, I found myself partially excited to put it to use for practical purposes... and partially just really impressed that SKIL Tools had created the opportunity to have a high quality tool with such a meaningful purpose behind it.

Pink SKIL iXO Palm-Sized Screwdriver Kit

Unpacking the individual pieces, there was no doubt that this was a lightweight and versatile cordless screwdriver that can easily be used in a multitude of situations.

SKIL Pink iXO screwdriver

I'll fully admit that there is a long list of tools that I don't know how to use (let alone even knowing their names). But when it comes to a screwdriver, that's a necessary item in just about every room of the house — from changing batteries in toys to tightening a wobbly table leg to putting together a new bookshelf.

And the SKIL iXO Palm-Sized Screwdriver can do it all! I love the way that it fits easily in your hand, can easily be switched from forward to reverse, includes an LED Work Light so that you can see what you're doing, has a Battery Fuel Gauge so that you aren't surprised when it stops working, and includes a high quality Lithium-Ion Battery that holds a charge for up to 18 months.

SKIL iXO review

Is there more that I could ask for? Whether something small like fixing a loose doorknob or something more involved, like installing blinds, the multiple drills bits and right angle attachment ensure that I can always get into hard-to-reach places with screws that are big or small.

I don't know how many times I've had to take one of our regular screwdrivers apart to try to get into a small spot or have crammed my hand around a bend, but tight angles are no longer a problem when I can pop on the right angle attachment!

SKIL iXO pink review

This October, support finding the cure for breast cancer with this limited-edition SKIL iXO. It's effective, convenient (love the storage case!), easy to use... and it's pink! I think that even the most manly of men can appreciate that this high quality tool demonstrates the importance of the cause and would be proud to join in.

Find out more information about SKIL Tools' iXO at SKILiXO.com and find out where to purchase this pink kit (it is available on Amazon.com as well as HomeDepot.com) where it retails for $39.98.

The SKIL iXO Palm-Sized Screwdriver would come in handy for me because my hubby and son keep most all of the tools in the garage where they "play" with their vehicles, so when something breaks in my house, I have to wait until they bring the tool home. I could fix things myself with this :)

And the only thing more annoying than an annoying battery operated toy, is a crying kid begging you loudly over the sound of a toy whose battery is on it's last ounce of oomph and you can't find the screwdriver anywhere to get the little coverplate off that battery compartment...
