It's The Thought That Counts {#KleenexCares}

Like any parent, I often fret about teaching my kids the importance of helping others and not taking what we have for granted. While both of my girls' teachers have pointed out that they display kindness, caring and generosity, I'm just not always convinced that they fully grasp the "It's the thought that counts," way of thinking.

Earlier this year, I found a new way to show the kids that even a small gesture can translate into something of large importance by signing us up to volunteer for Meals on Wheels.

We drive to the senior center, pick up our food and our chart showing the addresses and instructions for each house, and off we go to deliver a freshly-cooked hot meal to a wonderful group of seniors that need a little extra help in the meal department. Each time, we receive a large amount of smiles and compliments as the girls shyly pass over bags containing things like fruit, rolls and dessert.

Who wouldn't be warmed by seeing a delivery like this waiting on your doorstep?

In between stops, I often peer at my kids in the rear view mirror and question them about the importance of what we're doing to see if they recognize the difference we're making in people's lives.

Did you see how happy she was that you brought her food?

What would happen if we didn't show up and deliver these dinners?

Why is it important to help other people?

During our recent Meals on Wheels deliveries, we added our own personal touch by giving away our second Kleenex Care Package.

Kleenex Brand Care Pack

A small, thoughtful gift to show that we care, this simple gift helped bring home the message that I was trying to impart to my daughters and the importance of showing displaying kindness to others.

While things like volunteering our time or donating toys, clothes or food to those in need are wonderful gestures this holiday season, simply showing someone that we're thinking of them and caring with this Kleenex Brand Care Pack was just the right addition to our afternoon.

Softness worth Sharing

Remember, to send a Kleenex Brand Care Pack of your own, you simply have to visit your local retailer, purchase a Kleenex brand bundle pack and redeem the code on the box by visiting Kleenex.com and following the directions (while supplies last).

This is one Softness Worth Sharing initiative that you're definitely going to want to be a part of!

Kleenex Softness Worth Sharing

This holiday season (and beyond), sharing a Kleenex tissue is a great way to give a bit of comfort in a small gesture that can make a big difference. Whether you pull one out of your pocket or you send a Kleenex Brand Care Pack, the small display of kindness can make all the difference for family and friends and show that truly, it's the thought that counts.

I wrote this review while participating in an ambassador program by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of the Kleenex brand and received product samples and a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.

How come I didn't know you volunteered for Meals on Wheels. That is cool, and yay for adding tissue to the mix in the season it's most needed!

Good for you, its awesome your showing your kids this valuable lesson in life. It seems as though the caring for elders has been slipping from peoples minds. The Kleenex is a nice added touch but I must say I am impressed and at the same time motivated to do something kind like this during this holiday season, and beyond. Thank You!

Whole family came down sick this week. We've needed a lot of kleenex.

How wonderful that you have your kids volunteering at a young age. I'm sure the seniors love seeing your girls at the door.
