Color, Style and Quality: VTech LS6195 Retro Phone {Review & Giveaway}

As with pretty much all kids, I remember growing up and thinking that my parents were, well, old.

The music they listened to, the clothes they wore, the television shows they watched, it was all just a bit... retro. Their generation was clearly just not nearly as cool as those of us growing up in the 90's. I mean, we danced to Boyz II Men and rocked to boy bands, wore overalls and scrunchies, and watched Saved By The Bell and 90210, so it didn't take much to realize that we had it going on and would be eternally hip.

Which might be why I was dumbfounded when Big Sister E took one look at the VTech LS6195 Retro Phone and was shocked at just how "old-fashioned" it was.

Right out of the box and I could already see that there wasn't much to do in order to get this retro phone up and running.

Expandable up to five handsets, the LS6195 comes with the main base and handset and simply needs the battery installed and the base plugged in to charge before it is ready for chatting.

As VTech included a clear Quick Start Guide that lists the main few steps to follow so that you can be talking on your new phone in no time, it took me only around a minute before I had this retro phone in place. This sleek, unique phone has made life easier from that initial setup and we haven't looked back once!

From the 50-name and number phone book directory to the Digital Answering System (which is accessible from the base as well as the handset), this phone makes it extremely handy to send, receive and store calls. Plus, the fact that there are no tapes or moving parts in the answering system means that there is less of a likelihood of us breaking something or missing a message.

I love that the base of the LS6195 allows you to dial or access features easily...

...while, at the same time, the handset allows for calling, retrieving messages, using the speakerphone and more.

I'm not even sure we've tried out all of the features that the LS6195 can do, as we've been so busy enjoying the crystal clear sound quality, security and range (thanks to the DECT 6.0 Digital technology), hands-free conversations that the whole family can be involved in due to the excellent speakerphone, and the paging feature that helps us find where we last put down the handset.

All in all, the simplicity, ease of use, high quality, and durability of this phone has allowed us to never worry about missing a call, losing a message, or dropping off while talking. Add to that the unique and fun retro design and the ability to select one of five great color options and you really can bring a burst of style into your home.
