Safety 1st Advance 70 Air + Convertible Car Seat {Review & Giveaway}

It means there is going to be a whole lot of sunscreen purchased, lists made, bags packed, snacks loaded up, whines of Are we there yet? questioning (most likely followed soon after by Don't make me turn this car around threats), and more as car after car takes to the highway.

The patented technology in this new car seat is called GCell HX, providing full body safety protection in the event of a crash. As this foam is designed with hexagonal shapes, it provides superior protection around the torso to protect the child from the multiple hits that can occur in crashes.

Coupled with this is the placement of Air Protect Technology which provides additional protection around the child's head, where it's needed most. Is there a parent out there that doesn't want to do everything possible to take crash forces away from their child's head? I think not.

As soon as I lifted this car seat out of the box, I was impressed with how sturdy and dependable it felt, not to mention the level of softness of the cushions and padding. This doesn't at all feel like a hard piece of plastic, there is a very comfortable seat as well as plenty of safety foam padding along the sides and top.

As well as the comfort and style of the Advance 70 Air +, I love that this is one car seat that is just so very versatile and convenient. With the ability to use it rear-facing — you could begin using this with a newborn — and then turn it forward-facing to continue with it all the way through preschool and beyond, you may never need to purchase another seat!

Simply begin with the 10-position headrest lowered in place for your newborn... and, by using the extremely convenient lever right on the back, move to the most reclined position (there are four total) that this seat offers so that it is ready to be installed rear-facing. It is as easy as 1-2-3!

What makes this car seat even easier to adjust than most for your growing child is the No Re-Thread Harness and the simplicity of adjusting the harness right along with the headrest.

Without having to uninstall the entire thing from the car or break your arm reaching around it to re-thread, you only have to grasp and squeeze the release lever and the entire top moves up and down extremely easily.

The combination of the safety features (the Advance 70 Air + even includes a steel-reinforced metal frame for extra stability!) and the no-fuss, convenience of accommodating your child to find the perfect fit means that you will surely have years of use from this one convertible car seat.

With so many great features already, I was happy to see that Safety 1st didn't skip over things such as making the seat cushion removable and hand-washable or including an integrated cup holder. It's the small additions as well as the overall safety that really come together to result in a great product!

All that was left was to see if the installation process was just as simple as using the rest of this car seat. However, before I even had a chance to wonder if I needed to study the manual, I found that Safety 1st had made things incredibly easy for me by having a variety of instructions and images right along the sides of the seat itself that showed precisely what I needed to know.

They even take away any worry that you might have a level or direction incorrect with their convenient color-coded belt paths right on the side of the Advance 70 Air +. These easy-to-understand displays ensure that the child restraint is installed and used properly to provide optimal safety.

Heading out to the car, it didn't take more than a minute to see that the Advance 70 Air + LATCH system makes getting this car seat tightly in place a snap. It wasn't more than a minute or two before we had this in place and Little Sister B was happily testing it out!

Little Sister B has been extremely excited about the arrival of this great convertible car seat and has commented on everything from the softness to the comfort to the possibility of having a drink within reach. She is definitely as big of a fan as I am, even if I'm focused on the safety and she more on the super cool factor!
