Creative Fun with Polly Pocket Toys and Playsets {Review}

Polly Pocket logo
I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Polly Pocket. I received a product sample to facilitate my review and a promotional item as a thank you for participating.

While my daughters seem to be increasingly interested in technology and just about all devices and gadgets, I've been happy to see that they don't shy away from the creative, imaginative possibilities that come with classic, traditional toys.

After all, no matter how far computers and phones are able to come, there's just something about playing with blocks, dolls, cars, pretend food and more that can't be replicated.

And, when it comes to those dolls, I don't think that there's one that my girls have met that they haven't loved. They play with the larger, somewhat-realistic baby dolls, dressing them, changing their diapers and putting them down for naps. They play with the Barbies, putting them through various adventures that typically end up with one tiny missing shoe. And, as of recently, they play in the tiny world of Polly Pocket.

Polly Pocket

Originally created and sold in pocket-size cases, the Polly Pocket dolls of today (sold by Mattel) are two to three inches tall and are composed of a pliable plastic with soft rubberized clothing and fashion accessories.

As both Big Sister E and Little Sister B love dolls that have separate pieces (such as clothes, shoes and jewelry), I had no doubt that they would be thrilled when the Polly Pocket Lila Fashion Collection arrived.

Polly Pocket Lila

This cute set includes Lila herself as well as a large array of outfits and accessories so that girls can change Lila's style multiple times over. My daughters took one look at the dresses, skirts, shirts, shorts, shoes, purses, sunglasses and makeup compact and dove right in to their own miniature fashion show!

Right away I appreciated that, instead of traditional cloth clothing, Polly Pockets use unique "Polly Stretch" garments — rubbery plastic clothes that are easier for children to stretch and bend when putting on or removing from the dolls. I was able to sit back and let them design each outfit from head to toe!

Polly Pocket review

While the girls were having a good time playing with Lila on her own — we especially love how portable these dolls and the pieces are and have taken her with us multiple times! — we found that having only one Polly Pocket doll did make things a little difficult with two kids.

Fortunately, that problem was solved a few days later when the Polly Pocket Wall Party Tree House Playset arrived!

Polly Pocket playset

This colorful tree house puts an innovative spin on the classic dollhouse, as instead of sitting on the floor, the entire set firmly attaches to any wall using the four included 3M Command Strips (and leaves no damage upon removal). Suddenly your child has a fun new place to play... while parents don't have to roll their eyes at yet another toy that takes up floor space.

It only took a matter of minutes before I had all of the pieces connected together and the house, complete with multiple levels, a trap door, a basket lift, a fun slide, side platform with a double sleeping bag, and more was safely adhered to the wall.

As the set comes with a Polly Pocket doll, a cat figurine, and various accessories, my girls simply added in Lila and her Fashion Collection and they had all of the tools they needed for endless imaginative play!

Polly Pocket Tree House

Each of these dolls and play sets are cute, innovative, portable and affordable while inspiring creativity and imagination all summer long and beyond!

I think my daughter has one little polly pocket somewhere with a dress or two. They are so cute with the little silicon-feeling dresses and outfits. She loves hers but I think the pieces are too small for her yet as she is just only turning three. But soon!

I remember playing with Polly Pockets with my daughter...now I am waiting for my granddaughter to grow a little more so we can enjoy playing with the dolls.

Wow, Polly Pocket has really advanced over the years. I too remember when the Polly Pocket sets very so very tiny. I enjoyed them far too much when I was growing up, so I can just imagine how your girls love these dolls today. They look just as fun to play and dress up!

I loved Polly Pockets as a little girl, but these are so much cuter. I can't wait until my daughter is old enough to play Polly Pockets!

Lots of little pieces to get lost and underfoot. It needs to come with a bag to keep them in.

These are adorable. I remember the itty bitty polly pockets from when I was little. I like how much bigger they are now.
