Never Lose Your Phone, Keys, Bag and More with Proximo by Kensington {Review & Giveaway}

Although I risk my children looking at me with shock and horror when I admit it, it doesn't feel like all that long ago that technology began to change into what it is today. There was a time before all the tablets and smartphones and it wasn't centuries ago like they think it was.

Can it really have been that far in the past that it felt "high tech" to play Oregon Trail on the computer at school as compared to now when my entire life is pretty much organized and run right from my phone?

However, with all of the advancements that have occurred in the world of technology, that just means that we're even more dependent on our devices than we ever were in the past. The number of times that I have reached for my phone, found empty space and felt my heart speed up — well, let's just say that it is akin to discovering that your left arm is missing, no?

Fortunately, it is much easier to relieve the stress and anxiety of losing your phone (or your keys, wallet, purse and more) thanks to the genius invention called Proximo by Kensington.

As I have long told my husband that there needs to be some sort of tracking device that I can place on my phone and my keys, I was extremely excited to see that the Proximo Fob and Proximo Tag would provide exactly that.

Giving users the unique ability to find their iPhone, Galaxy S phone or any number of accessories and necessities before they get lost, Proximo safeguards what is most valuable to you in only a few simple steps. Just download the free Proximo app (from iTunes or Google Play), use the Bluetooth connection on your phone to connect and worries that your possessions will get lost just disappear.

As I removed the Fob and Tag from their respective packaging, I was pleased to see that it wasn't going to take longer than a minute or two before either one was ready and working.

After using the miniature screwdriver and inserting the provided batteries into the back of each of the gadgets, all that was left was to pair them with the Bluetooth on my phone, connect the Fob to my keys and place the Tag in the location of my choosing.

As each one is small and unassuming, there is no worry that you're adding something bulky to your keyring, purse, backpack and more.

For me, my keyring is already large, full and bulky by choice, so that wasn't an issue. In fact, my Proximo Fob is one of the smallest things on there!

As for the Tag, it could easily be attached to just about anything, so no matter if you're trying to keep track of your purse, backpack, a second set of keys or more, it's no problem.

I'm someone who changes between purses, so I'm forever trying to remember where my wallet ended up. By simply slipping the Proximo Tag in with the coins, now I won't have to wonder anymore!

Now, when I pull up the Proximo app on my phone, it takes only a single tap to put the Fob or the Tag to work.

Kensington really couldn't have made this much easier!

Pressing "Find" results in the light flashing and alarm sounding, making it a snap to figure out that my keys or wallet is buried under the pile of papers in the kitchen.

Alternatively, pressing the Smartphone Finder Button on the Fob turns on the alarm on my phone, putting a stop to my oncoming panic when I'm ready to go out the door and can't find my phone. It's all controlled quickly and easily right from the dashboard in the app itself!

As for the Alarm option, that's a useful feature when you're out and about and want Proximo to notify you if put too large of a distance between your items. For instance, if you're preparing to leave a store and have left your keys at the cash register, your phone will alert you before you've even gone out the door!

I appreciate that Kensington added in the ability to define Quiet Zones within the app, so that you can easily tell your Proximo gadgets to not disturb you while you are at work, in the library or more. At the same time, you can personalize the Proximo Fob and Tag with custom alarm tones, images, names for each one and more.

The result is that you end up with a comprehensive proximity monitoring system that makes it easy to keep track of your phone, keys and up to four other valuable items at all times!

Face it, your smartphone is much more than just an expensive phone. I know that I wouldn't be the only mom that would be extremely distraught without all of my apps, pictures, email, internet, contact information and much more! Not to mention the amount of hassle that we all spend trying to find lost keys, purses, wallets, backpacks and more.

Considering that the Proximo Fob retails for $39.99 and the Proximo Tag sells for $24.99, that seems quite reasonable for the peace of mind... and is a fraction of the cost for replacing your phone!
