Mega Bloks Barbie Build 'n Play Luxe Camper {Review & Giveaway}

In the past 3+ decades that I have been on this earth, I have experienced camping exactly one time. I have memories of the uncomfortable tent, the large bugs, sleeping on the ground and the feeling of extreme joy when we returned back to our house.

Let's just say that it isn't a surprise that, if my kids were to have the opportunity to "rough it" outdoors and I was involved, it wouldn't be camping, it would be glamping.

Shorthand for glamorous camping, glamping involves any number of luxuries that one enjoys in their home and takes them on the road for a posh, relaxing trip. Extravagant? Maybe.

But, what can I say? Apparently deep down I want to hang out with Barbie and her little sister Chelsea as they head out on a coast to coast, fun-filled road trip in their Mega Bloks Barbie™ Build 'n Play Luxe Camper.

Best known for their colorful, easy to manipulate building blocks, Mega Bloks has taken things to a new level time and time again by introducing new ways to play with them. Their sets have expanded to include trucks, farms, trains, recognizable characters, games, and much more to encourage imaginative play.

And this Build 'n Play Luxe Camper truly is an example of Mega Bloks' creativity and attention to detail. Filled with bunk beds, a make-up area, front seats and more, this set also includes two mini-fashion figures and tons of accessories.

Could they have added any more to a young girl's dream toy?

Right out of the box it was easy to see that Mega Bloks hadn't spared a single detail when it came to including pieces for this set.

However, as the Mega Bloks Barbie Build 'n Play Luxe Camper is designed for children aged 4-10, I could see that parents would want to consider their child's personality and preferences when giving this as a birthday or holiday gift.

Have a child that loves to build and create on their own? Then give them this set as is so that they can put it all together! But if you have a child (like mine) that has less patience and would rather be able to immediately play with Barbie and Chelsea? Then you might want to consider opening the box ahead of time to get a head start on some of construction steps of all 305 pieces.

The girls and I ended up all chipping in on the construction of this camper, as Big Sister E was able to follow most of the illustrated, step-by-step instructions herself, but began to lose patience as time wore on.

In the meantime, Little Sister B played with the pieces that were not in use, until slowly she handed them over, one by one, as this complete set came together to form a colorful, unique playset.

Again, the details! Mega Bloks easily could have made the Build ‘n Play Luxe Camper much less complex, but that would have been so much less fun!

Instead, they included an incredible number of little additions and accessories so that you are able to build, decorate and customize the sparkling pink camper and surrounding campsite however you wish.

The lounge chair for kicking back, the fire for roasting marshmallows, the picnic table for enjoying tasty treats, the hot tub for taking a relaxing dip, the scooter for Chelsea to zoom off for a ride... the list just goes on and on!

And the details don't stop once you peer inside the Luxe Camper itself.

The girls instantly adored the bunk beds, front seats for driving and riding, the make-up area with brush, mirror, blow dryer, lipstick, makeup brush, bottle of lotion and more, and couldn't wait to have Barbie and Chelsea enjoy each one!

Plus, although we assembled the Luxe Camper set per the instructions, there really is no right or wrong way to put these pieces together.

A child can keep this camper as is, or simply remove parts, move them around, build them taller or wider, or even combine them with any other of the Mega Bloks Barbie sets to build a whole new fabulous world of fashion, friends and fun!

This set has done nothing but impress us since its arrival and the pretend camping experiences that we've had have resulted in all sorts of laughter and smiles. Even though the pieces and the characters are small, they have provided big fun each time we reach for them!

Even better, as the characters' clothes, hair and accessories are interchangeable, it is extremely easy to use our imagination to change up the adventures with any number of hair bows, flowers, hearts, the purse, skirt and more. Then Barbie and Chelsea are ready for yet another great day of glamping!
