As much as I attempt and enjoy cooking homemade meals for my family, there are plenty of days when we need a break from the kitchen. Whether it has been a long week, we have already eaten all of our typical favorites, or the day has just been too busy to stop for a breath, sometimes packing the kids in the car and heading to a restaurant is a welcome respite for all of us.
However, as all parents know, just selecting a restaurant can be a challenge, as it needs to combine the right food, atmosphere and service to ensure that the experience ends up positive... and not one of those times that we all dread.
Is there anything more frustrating than sitting there counting the seconds until your food arrives and willing your children to stop with the I'm hunnnnngry! Where's my fooood? whining?
Fortunately, now families everywhere can sit back and relax with a little educational fun when out to eat thanks to Denny's introduction of the flavorful, fun-filled journey on their new Adventure Menu.
Already one of America's largest full-service family restaurant chains (1,700 restaurants around the world!), Denny's has now teamed up with National Geographic Kids to entertain families at mealtimes. Featuring a variety of quirky animal facts, quizzes and fun fill-in stories, the interactive menu offers plenty of exciting ways to keep young adventurers entertained at the table.
Instead of a traditional coloring sheet (which my kids blast through in about a minute), Denny's Adventure Menu features popular National Geographic Kids "Weird but True" facts, puzzles, "Bet You Didn’t Know" questions and more. What better way to encourage the whole family to laugh, learn and bond together?
Always on the lookout for ways that my kids can be happily entertained and educated (and fed) without even realizing it, we were more than excited to head over to Denny's to take a walk on the wild side with the new Adventure Menu in person.
As well as the National Geographic Kids content that was perfect to challenge and entertain us at the table, we noticed right away that the new menu also features a variety of adventurous dishes and healthy, nutritious options.
Several of the options are verified by the Kids Live Well program, created by the National Restaurant Association, so that kids can choose healthier alternatives for a meal that ends up balanced as well as tasty. At the same time, we love the customization opportunities and the way that kids can feel a sense of control helping pick their entree or side.
How can you go wrong with so many delicious all-day options to pick from?
Both Big Sister E and Little Sister B were excited to order exactly what they wanted and, as soon as our friendly server stepped away from the table, they were just as happy to discuss all of the fun things they could do on the Adventure Menu while they waited for their lunch.
Considering how much I was actually enjoying the quality time my family was spending together learning about meerkats, it hardly seemed as though any time had passed before our food arrived and it was time to eat.
Educational, entertaining fun and delicious, healthy food options? We would say that Denny's Adventure Menu is definitely a hit!
Even better, if you discover that your child really loves the fun and learning that this unique menu provides, there is a spot right on the back where you can scan the QR code (or visit kids.nationalgeographic.com) to find even more info and games as well as about having their great magazine delivered right to your front door.
Launched nationwide, Denny's Adventure Menu is available all day, every day with prices starting at just $3.29; the menu includes breakfast, lunch, dinner, drink and dessert items.
To find out more about all that Denny's has to offer and for the location nearest you, visit Dennys.com. You'll also want to connect with this much-loved restaurant on Facebook and Twitter so that you won't miss what's happening at this great family diner.
I was provided gift cards from Denny's in order to facilitate my review, however, all thoughts and opinions are honest and my own.

I love Denny's for breakfast and I would love to take my niece this summer to Denny's for breakfast and do the fun activities. I think this is great what Denny's is doing.
That's better than the coloring pages some places have. I like learning new facts.

I have eaten at Denny's several times with my friends, they have got some good food there. I think every time we've eaten there it has always been for breakfast. Thank you for sharing this post.
