It's an icebreaker-type of game that is often played when a group of peers or athletes are getting to know each other. Each person takes a turn telling three statements about themselves, two of which are true and one that is not — the object is for the rest of the group to decide which is the lie.
While deciding whether or not someone's favorite color truly is yellow or if they were born in another country typically brings a smile, I usually manage to bring the game to a halt when people find out that my statement I've NEVER eaten a hamburger is not, in fact, a lie.
That's right, never. And it's not just a hamburger, it's any and all meat.
In answer to the How is that possible? question that everyone always asks next, it is due to my mother cutting meat out of her own diet when she was in her 20's and therefore raising my brother and me without it. If you're wondering Don't you ever just want to eat a steak? like many others, nope, I don't. It doesn't really look all that appetizing, actually. What can I say? This is a classic case of "you don't know what you're missing" that is my way of life!
The only area in which I do feel as though I'm at a slight disadvantage is when it comes to getting enough protein. What do you eat for protein? How is your protein intake? Are you making sure to get enough protein? are what I hear from every doctor and at just about every appointment that I've ever had.
No worries, that's where GNC comes in!
GNC is the world's largest company of its kind devoted exclusively to helping its customers improve the quality of their lives. Their company not only sets the standard in the nutritional supplement industry by demanding truth in labeling, ingredient safety and product potency, but their commitment to Living Well carries over into every aspect (scientific research, new product discovery, manufacturing and packaging, etc) and fits right in with their rigorous approach to ensuring quality.
Therefore, when it comes time for me to add protein to my life, I know that I can turn to GNC to find plant-based products that my non-meat-eating self will be happy to incorporate.
After all, we all know that protein is a great way to support lean muscles and total body health and wellness, but plant-based protein supplements from GNC are especially perfect for those of us who follow a vegetarian or vegan diet as well as anyone who simply wants a convenient way to boost protein intake.
- Brown Rice Protein: a convenient source of protein for vegetarians, but because brown rice protein is not a complete or whole protein, it is most commonly paired with pea protein to complete the essential amino acid profile.
- Hemp Protein: often higher in fiber compared to other protein powders and provides essential fatty acids, omega-3 and omega-6.
- Pea Protein: a great option for vegetarians and vegans as pea proteins are commonly high in the amino acids lysine and arginine.
- Soy Protein: contains no cholesterol and very little fat yet provides essential amino acids our bodies need for growth and repair of muscles.
As for me, I've recently been enjoying having the ability to add GNC SuperFoods Spiru-Meal™ to my day to know that I'm raising my protein intake in such an easy and tasty way.
While I wasn't familiar with GNC SuperFoods Spiru-Meal previously, I'm loving the way that it delivers a mix of vitamins and minerals typically found in wholesome super foods as well as protein and other key nutrients necessary for maintaining optimal health and wellness.
In fact, each serving of GNC SuperFoods Spiru-Meal contains spirulina and bee pollen, is loaded with 14 grams of non-GMO vegetarian protein, and contains food-based enzymes to support digestive health.
In short, the vanilla flavor tastes great, it is dense in nutrients, and it offers a hearty helping of natural goodness in every delicious, easy-to-mix serving! I mix it right in with frozen fruit and milk (regular, soy, coconut, almond, etc) and it blends perfectly into a protein-filled energy-boosting smoothie. Yes, please!
Are you ready to discover the power of plant-based proteins? They can easily be added as an ingredient to all sorts of your favorite recipes, so be sure to learn more from GNC today. You can also connect with the wonderful, committed folks at GNC on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram.
