About Me

Hi, I’m Xenia.

Unfortunately now that you’ve read that, your brain has already fallen into the X trap. The one where if you see my name written down before you’ve heard it pronounced, your mind has already moved into being flustered as to what to do with that X.

Sorry about that. It’s pronounced Za-knee-a, with the stress on the second syllable.

It’s nice to meet you!

I’m a stay-at-home mom to two gorgeous girls and the wife to a sweet (and usually exhausted) workaholic here in Wisconsin. After realizing just how much the girls and I enjoy the ‘vroooom’ sound of the mail truck coming down the block, Thanks, Mail Carrier was born in 2009.  Focusing on family-friendly reviews and giveaways of the best products, companies, and services that can be delivered right to your front door, this is the place where I can share them along with why you, your family, your friends, your grandkids or your neighbor will love them.

If I can make you laugh or at least crack a smile with a silly picture of my kids, then that’s just an added bonus.

Due to experience with journalism in my previous lifetime (was there life before kids?) having a place to express my passion for writing has fulfilled a spot that I didn’t realize was empty. Every day that I write this blog I’m overjoyed to connect with readers, bloggers, and brands and, judging by the positive testimonials that I have heard and the friendships that I have forged, every moment that I put into it has been worth it.

I’m proud of the reputation that I’ve built for providing quality results and appreciate every opportunity that I’ve received due to the time and care that I put into my writing. Having been a Brand Ambassador for multiple companies shows that my insightful posts do in fact have impact with their valuable content and having had the opportunity to be a Twitter party host more than once is a nod to my personable, friendly nature.

Yes, I’m just that cool.

Now that you know me, it’s time to meet my contributing staff.

Big Sister E, 11
Very old photo, but a favorite of mine.
The self-proclaimed ruler of the family, this intelligent 11-year-old switches between being joyfully outgoing and painfully shy, depending on the situation and the people involved.

She is extremely caring (to the point where nurturing her younger sister can turn to smothering), quizzically thoughtful, beyond creative, has dreams of becoming a teacher, and is a big fan of her daddy.

Likes: Middle school, pineapple, books, art, being put in charge, taking care of her sister, asking “I used to do that/wear that when I was a baby?” and getting her paycheck in crackers.

Dislikes: Bedtime, cleaning her room, most chocolates (I know, right??) and even the tiniest possibility that she is missing out on something that her sister is getting.

Little Sister B, 9
Also a bit (i.e. 5 years) outdated.
This free-spirited, glass-is-half-full, happy 9-year-old has a smile that can light up a room and has fully completed our family of four.

She is curious, eager to learn, desperate to do anything that her older sister can do, and alternates between being a little too fearless and being deathly afraid of creepy crawlies. She knows full well that giving Mommy “snuggles” (hugs) will get her out of any situation and she uses it to her advantage.

Likes: Animals, wearing dresses, playing with her friends, being able to do things herself, anything and everything swimming, playing with sand, and sweets in any and all forms.

Dislikes: Bugs, making decisions, getting caught in the act of misbehaving, having to wait longer than about 10 seconds for pretty much anything, and green beans.
